Mr. Bobby Stewart, the founder of Stewart’s British Kennels, is the man that got me started with my British Labrador lines and my training experience. Mr Bobby has been training dogs for over 40 years, and when he started with the British Labrador lines was the only breeder, trainer, handler in the country. Thank’s to Bobby, I have also become a breeder, trainer, and handler! Daisy on a duck hunt!
I found Cochran British Labs after significant research and telephone calls to breeders all over the country. My family had just lost our yellow lab of 14 years. I only had two criteria, I wanted a dog that would be exceptional with our family and a dog that would be a great waterfowl retriever. From the beginning, I had a high comfort level with Chris. He completely understood what I was looking for, didn’t take advantage of my lack of expertise regarding British Labs and made it known from the get-go that he was going to be a resource I could depend on for years. He also suggested I call Mr. Stewart, his mentor. After conversations with each of them, I knew Cochran British Labs was the kennel for us. I chose a started British Lab, who we eventually named Daisy. For several months, Chris continued to train her at the appropriate levels and regularly corresponded with me on her development.
I traveled more than 20 hours round trip to pick up Daisy. Looking back, I would have driven anywhere in the country to get this dog. She continues to exceed my expectations. She is a beautiful dog. She is well trained. She has a great disposition. She is exceptional with our family (my wife and I have two small children who love Daisy). She acclimated to our house in no time and today, its like she has been with us for years (even though it’s been just a few months). And of course, she is a lights out retriever. She doesn’t have one full season under her belt yet, but she has already done some water retrieves from land and from boat. She is starting to pick up some hand signals and is always willing to listen and learn. I am not an expert dog trainer, but she makes the work we need to do easy. Chris also regularly checks in with me and is ready to answer any training or general questions I have. The breeding and bloodlines of these dogs makes a tremendous difference and the training they receive from Chris is icing on the cake. We bought Kali from you a year ago and she is absolutely awesome! At 8 months old, she found 3 victims on a live search training. We have since worked with her on pheasant hunting and she is excelling there as well. All of Karis’ love prior to her coming to us ensured that my 7 yr old granddaughter is her favorite person. Man I'm enjoying her a lot. She's so easy to Handle an was easy to train picked everything up fast. She's got the drive. Probably picked up 300+ ducks 100+ geese. Had some impressive blinds for a pup That's bout to turn one! Quite an obeys perfect. You sir have a great kennel.
